This document tries to explain how to configure printing on a machine running Fedora Linux 7 or later versions using our Laptop Network. If things arn't clear please let us know.
Recent versions of Fedora use CUPS for printing and have it enabled by default so all local printers should be visible without further configuration being needed.
Note that you can set your Default Printer using the tool you should find under the System > Preferences > Hardware menus.
You should be able to use any of the printer from applications. You should not need to alter any printer settings since it will pick up the available options, and features from the print server.
Remember that all of our printers default to using A4 paper and most which can print double-sided (duplex) will do so by default.
If you do not see any printers, or cannot view the properties etc remember that you need to first be authenticated to the network in order to print.
This setup has been tested on Fedora 7. Configuration should be very similar for other fairly recent versions of Fedora. For details on how to configure printing on other versions of Fedora please refer to the documentation provided with the system or contact your local computer support staff.
